Anne Hanson, Senior Accountant
What brought you to TMWA and where did you work previously? I've worked in many different areas before being fortunate enough to settle in Reno. I've worked for government entities in Las Vegas, Portland and for military and government entities in Idaho.
How does your job at TMWA differ from other jobs you've had? The first thing is that all of the people at TMWA are really great to work with. Secondly, there are several components that make up my job, which keep me busy; as compared to jobs I have had in the past where the work is not so diverse.
What is unique about your job at TMWA? One of the unique parts of my job is that I get the opportunity to interact with customers, ensuring they get their refund checks. Customer refund checks are for customers who are moving out of their property and are getting their deposit back or who have a credit on their account. Managing the refund check process in-house allows us to have more internal controls, meaning more accuracy and it also saves the organization money.
How has TMWA invested in your professional development? TMWA supports my membership in the Governmental Finance Officers Association in addition to the various training seminars that I have attended, which enhance my knowledge and keep me current on financial information and trends.
What is one of your proudest professional accomplishments while working at TMWA? There is a real sense of accomplishment when we get through year-end and we have completed a successful audit. It’s important to note that getting through a successful financial audit is a real team effort made possible by everyone in the Finance Department’s hard work.
What does Quality. Delivered. mean to you? TMWA exemplifies Quality. Delivered. because in every department every employee is dedicated to doing the best job they can. Doing quality work allows us to deliver a quality product to our customers.
