Faces of TMWA

Meet the people of TMWA whose commitment to serve our community ensures our water quality is among the best in the country.

Bwire Ojiambo, Senior Hydrogeologist

What do you love most about your job?  The variety of job functions that I am able to perform, such as my work with wells, which includes designing, rehabilitation, maintenance, recharging, test pumping and interacting with customers about them.

When did your interest in hydrogeology begin?  It began when I was young. I was born in the western part of Kenya near Lake Victoria and we used to have a lot of floods in that area. Living in that environment sparked my interest in hydrogeology along with my interest in the study of science as a whole.

What do you like about working at TMWA?  I like the interaction between co-workers and the open door policy. I like being able to go and talk to my boss at any time, knowing that the door is always open. It is nice to work with straight forward co-workers who speak professionally to each other.

How has TMWA invested in your professional development?  TMWA ensures that every year I am able to attend the necessary courses needed to maintain my Operator II certification with the State of Nevada.  TMWA also affords me the opportunity to be a member of many important professional organizations, including Nevada Water Resources Association, American National Ground Water Association, American Water Works Association and American Water Resources Association.

How does your role help ensure that TMWA delivers its Quality. Delivered. tagline?  I am able to uphold the Quality. Delivered. tagline by studying the water quality and the behavior of the wells. This allows me to ensure that the water we deliver to our customers is Quality. Delivered.
