Your Water

The Spanish Springs Tank has long been identified in planning studies as an essential water distribution facility required to serve existing and future residents in the rapidly growing Spanish Springs Valley. The tank site is located south of the Wingfield Hills Development and incorporates a low profile, aesthetically pleasing design. The tank provides the following:

• An operating storage component used to meet peak customer demands, reduce pumping costs and to maintain adequate pressure during peak demand periods,
• A fire protection component held in reserve for fighting potential residential and commercial fires,
• An emergency supply component held in reserve for power failures, main breaks or other similar events.

Construction of the tank culminated a compressed but successful permitting effort involving the City of Sparks Planning Departments, the Sparks Fire Department, and the Washoe County District Health Department. Input from these agencies has been incorporated into the tank design and operation. In addition, this project was TMWA's first involving the " public works bidding process".
