DESCRIPTION:Customers are invited to tour the Verdi Hydroelectric Power Plant\, which has been producing clean\, renewable energy for 100 years. The tours are open to all TMWA customers. Each tour is limited to 20 people. \nThis will be an outdoor event\, and although we expect the temperature to be pleasant\, a hat\, sunglasses or sunscreen might be a good idea. There will be some walking and standing involved\, so comfortable shoes to navigate the dirt\, rocks and some sloped landscape are a must. \nAll attendees will be required to sign a liability waiver before participating in the tour. DESCRIPTION:Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) invites you to a public workshop on upcoming adjustments to the way water rates are structured. These changes are based on a Cost of Service (COS) study presented to the TMWA Board of Directors in September. The purpose of the COS adjustment is fairness. It ensures customers are proportionally charged for the costs of providing water service\, including both fixed costs (pipes\, pumps\, treatment plants\, reservoirs) and variable costs (power\, treatment chemicals\, etc.). Importantly\, the COS adjustment does not increase TMWA’s overall revenue. Instead\, it redistributes costs more equitably so that no customer group is subsidizing another. \nFor most customers\, this will mean little to no change in bills. DESCRIPTION:Join as at TMWA’s Glendale Water Treatment Plant and learn how we are able to produce enough high-quality water to satisfy the community’s needs–whether it be 40 million gallons on a cold winter day\, or 140 million in the heat of the summer! The plant tour/workshop is scheduled for Wednesday\, May 6 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. TMWA’s water quality experts will present the rigorous regulations\, testing and treatment procedures your water goes through prior to reaching your tap. This workshop includes a tour of the Glendale Water Treatment Plant and water quality labs where staff will provide insights into water quality testing and explain the treatment and distribution processes\, as well as answer your questions. \nThe workshop will take place at the Glendale Water Treatment Plant at 1205 S. 21st Street in Sparks. It is free and open to TMWA customers. \nPlease click HERE to RSVP at least 24 hours prior. \nAll attendees will be required to sign a liability waiver before participating in the tour. Drop in anytime to learn first-hand about water planning for growth and water resource management in the Truckee Meadows. Community partners from numerous agencies and organizations will be there as well to answer any water questions that you may have beyond drinking water. \nThere will be activities and family-focused displays and presentations—so bring the kids for a fun learning experience.
