This workshop includes a tour of the Chalk Bluff Water Treatment Plant where staff will explain the water treatment and distribution process\, as well as answer your questions. \nTMWA’s Chalk Bluff Water Treatment Plant just received the prestigious “Presidents Award” from the Partnership for Safe Water as being among the highest performing water treatment plants in the country. Only 18 water utilities in the country have achieved this award. \nThe workshop will take place at Chalk Bluff Water Treatment Plant at 9605 McCarran Blvd. in Reno. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate World Plumbing Day – March 11 \nWorld Plumbing Day is an international event on March 11 initiated by the World Plumbing Council celebrating the important role plumbing plays in the health and safety of modern society. \nThe aftermath of 2010’s devastating earthquake in Haiti and the 2011 tsunami in Japan reveals how easy it is to take for granted the availability of safe drinking water and sufficient sanitation systems — until those systems cease to function properly. History shows that great leaps in humankind’s advancement — both physically and socially — have been tied to advances in plumbing technology. \nThe safety and abundance of drinking water is\, of course\, a concern for most people all over the world\, but what is not often emphasized is the work the plumbing industry contributes every day to alleviate these concerns. SUMMARY:Open House for Proposed Rate Adjustment
DESCRIPTION:Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) has scheduled several public meetings to collect customer feedback regarding a proposed rate adjustment. \nThe rate adjustment would be the first in over three years and is intended to help the utility meet revenue requirements. The average customer’s water bill is expected to increase by $1.42 per month starting May 2017 with an additional increase of $1.47 in May 2018. \nTMWA continues to monitor the effectiveness of our rate structures\, and\, as necessary\, makes adjustments that better reflect the costs associated with treating\, delivering\, and maintaining the high-quality water that our customers currently expect. Customers are encouraged to attend the following meetings for more information and to provide feedback\, which will be presented to the TMWA Board of Directors. \nThere will be opportunities for the public to comment during TMWA’s Board of Directors and Standing Advisory Committee meetings. \nCustomers who cannot attend a meeting\, but would like to comment\, can do so by sending an e-mail to tmwaboard@tmwa.com.
