In November 2024, Miguel Martinez was elected to serve as the Council Member for Ward 3. Known for its rich history, Ward 3 represents a variety of services and constituents, including the Wells Avenue Business District, the MidTown Business District, and the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. It also consists of various City of Reno Parks facilities, including the Neil Road Recreation Center, Mira Loma Park, and the Adaptive Cycling Center.
Previously, Miguel spent a decade as an educator. During that time Miguel worked at Truckee Meadows Community College and Virginia Tech. These opportunities amassed direct services to students, improving education attainment gaps, expanding accessibility to higher education, and developing a stronger sense of community.
A Reno native, Miguel earned an Associate of Arts from Truckee Meadows Community College, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs from Virginia Tech. In his spare time, Miguel enjoys spending time with his wife and two loving young girls, golfing, and partaking in outdoor activities.
