Many of our customers and homeowners are not aware that they are responsible for repair costs when a water service line on their property fails. Age, soil conditions, ground shifting, tree roots and corrosion are all factors that may pose risks to your line and result in an emergency breakdown. The older the home, the more chance that your water line will fail.
Water service line failures can be an inconvenience, to say the least, and may cost thousands of dollars if replacement is needed. To help prevent this financial hardship, TMWA staff set out to find solutions for our customers. After much research, TMWA recommended Service Line Warranties of America, an independent company, offering eligible homeowners optional exterior water service line coverage. This insurance provides up to $8,500 per incident. SLWA coverage is $5.75 per month and can help protect policyholders from the surprise of costly repairs. TMWA does not administer or profit from this program in any way.
Since SLWA’s coverage was first presented to TMWA customers two years ago, 10,196 have enrolled for water-service line policies. A total of 512 claims have been processed as of June 1, 2025, which has saved customers $826,726 in repairs. Another benefit of this program is that the amount of water being lost to leaks is lessened.
