Brent Smith was appointed Distribution Operations Manager at Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) in November 2024. In this role, he oversees the operation of TMWA’s Distribution System, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of all water system facilities. Brent has been with TMWA since June 2002, advancing through multiple roles, including Distribution Helper, Heavy Equipment Operator, Inspector, Field and Meter Services Coordinator, Field and Meter Services Supervisor, and Distribution Supervisor. His experience in both field operations and leadership has provided him with an in-depth understanding of TMWA’s water system and service needs.

Before joining TMWA, Brent worked for Sierra Pacific Power/NV Energy as a meter reader and in the Gas and Water Department. A lifelong Northern Nevadan, he graduated from Wooster High School in 1990 and pursued studies in Criminal Science at Truckee Meadows Community College and the University of Nevada, Reno. He holds a Nevada Distribution Grade IV certification and is an AWWA (CA/NV Section) Certified Cross-connection Specialist.
