Assigned-Day Watering
Now As Easy As 1-2-3

We live in a high-desert climate with Lake Tahoe serving as our main water supply. With an average annual rainfall of seven inches per year, we encourage responsible water use at all times. The revised Assigned-day watering will continue to even out peak, summer-day demand, thereby avoiding costly treatment plant expansions through predicted water use.
How It Works
If the last number of your home or business address is:
- even (0, 2, 4, 6 or 8), water only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
- odd (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9), water only on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
No watering on Mondays. It gives our water system a chance to recharge.
No watering between noon and 6 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Three Assigned-Days
Because we have met our community conservation agreement to meter the water system, our customers now have the fexibility of watering up to three assigned days per week. Our studies show that metered customers will most likely use the same amount of water over three days as they used in two days. As always, we encourage responsible water use.
Water Deeper, Less Often
It builds stronger roots and a healthier lawn.
Use the “Water & Wait” Method
On your watering days, water until puddles form, then stop and wait for the water to soak in, about 1-2 hours. Repeat until water reaches 6-8 inches deep, which you can determine by easily pushing a screwdriver into the soil.
Hand Water Any Time
Hand water vegetables, flowers, trees and shrubs any day of the week.
