Reno Vice Mayor and City Council Member Naomi Duerr was elected Chair of the TMWA Board of Directors at the Board’s June meeting. She will serve a one-year term through June 30, 2025.
Chair Duerr is the first woman and representative from the Reno City Council to hold the chair position on TMWA’s board. “I am honored to be appointed to this position and excited to continue working with the Board and TMWA staff to ensure a sustainable water future for our region,” said Chair Duerr.
The Board is comprised of members appointed by their local jurisdictions. Currently serving are Jenny Brekus and Devon Reese from Reno City Council, Paul Andersen and Kristopher Dahir from Sparks City Council, and Clara Andriola and Alexis Hill from Washoe County Commission. Andriola serves as TMWA’s vice chair.
Chair Duerr has a distinguished record in water management in Florida and Nevada. Locally, she served as the Nevada State Water Planner and as the first executive director of the Truckee River Flood Management Project. She has been a member of TMWA’s Board since 2014.
