Sparks City Council member Paul Anderson was elected Chair of TMWA’s Board of Directors at the June meeting. He will serve a one-year term through June 30, 2027. Anderson has been a member of the Sparks City Council since 2018 and was appointed to the TMWA Board in 2019.

“We look forward to working with Paul as we plan for a sustainable water future for our region,” said John Zimmerman, TMWA’s general manager.

The Board is comprised of seven members appointed by their respective local jurisdictions. Currently serving are Naomi Duerr, Miguel Martinez and Kathleen Taylor from the Reno City Council; Dian VanderWell from the Sparks City Council; and Alexis Hill and Clara Andriola from the Washoe County Commission. Along with Anderson’s election, Martinez was elected as TMWA’s vice chair.

Anderson has been a resident of Sparks for more than 30 years and is currently employed as an account executive with Pilot Thomas Logistics, specializing in national accounts and government contracts. He is active in the Sparks community, serving with the Nevada Veterans Memorial Plaza, Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, Reno/Sparks Gospel Mission and various church ministries. He has also been involved in youth sports and was notably awarded Volunteer of the Year by the Sparks American Youth Soccer Organization.
