Access Road near TMWA’s Fleish Hydroelectric Plant to be Closed From Sept. 15 to Feb. 15, 2017
With diminished Truckee River flows and an end to the hydroelectric-generation season, TMWA will commence with a major repair to the large pipe that channels water into the Fleish Hydroelectric plant. With public safety and security of concern, the scale of this work requires that the hydroelectric maintenance access road through TMWA property be closed to the public for the duration of the project. As this road is part of the Tahoe-Pyramid Bikeway, hikers and cyclists will be required to find an alternate route around the closed section of road.
Which section of the road will be closed?
The section of road to be closed is located west of Verdi, a short distance upriver from where Quilici Ranch Rd. crosses the railroad tracks. The closed section will extend all the way to the “River Rock” rock formation, which is near the suspension bridge at the hydro plant’s water-intake structure. There will be gates across the road and signage indicating that the road is closed and off limits.
