(Reno, NV) Truckee Meadows Water Authority (TMWA) begins construction on the Sun Valley Booster Pump Station Lid Replacement Project on Monday, July 15. During this project, traffic will be impacted at the intersection of Sun Valley Blvd. and Skaggs Circle. The project and traffic delays are anticipated to take two weeks.
The northbound lane of Sun Valley Blvd. will be closed near the work site, restricting traffic to a single lane. Motorists can expect slowdowns in their commutes. The lane closure will be in effect 24 hours per day until construction work is completed.
This $250,000 project will replace the concrete roof on TMWA’s Sun Valley 3 Booster Pump Station, which is a critical underground pump station serving drinking water to Sun Valley. The pump station will remain in service throughout construction and the project will not cause interruptions to customers’ water service. The work will be performed by TMWA’s contractor: Gerhardt & Berry.
Completion of this project will help maintain water distribution reliability in this area for years to come. With fluctuating temperatures and weather patterns constantly testing TMWA’s system, the delivery of high-quality water is an around-the-clock job that demands vigilant attention 365 days a year. To stay on top of this, TMWA’s Capital Improvement Plan outlines projected maintenance and large infrastructure improvement projects necessary to make the system more efficient and reliable.
